Mustang Men are Champions of Tourney

The Mustangs men came out of the North Rock Creek Tri-County Tournament champs last Saturday night.

After defeating Earlsboro in the opening round the Mustangs faced Davenport in the second round and came home with the 52-48 win. Chad Milne led all scorers with 26 points, Rylan Black 3, Nathan Hammonds 6, Jaren Porter 3, Airyn Knighten 2 and Gerison Johnson 2. The win placed Allen in the fi nals against Wellston on Saturday night. Chad Milne had another 20+ game this time with 23 points, Milne also hit the game winning last minute shot to give Allen the win. Rylan Black 11, Chris Holcomb 2, Jaren Porter 2 and Nathan Hammonds

2. “It was a good tournament for us,” said Coach Greg Mills. “We faced some bigger schools and the wins probably boosted our confidence a little. I was glad to see them get a chance to bring home a championship trophy.”

The Lady Mustangs stubbed their toe in the second round of the tournament falling 37-29 to Earlsboro. Kinsey Nix scored 10, Kaylyn Rowsey 7, Calissa Childers 4, Emily Sells 3, Maddie Clifford 2 and Kinlee Cundiff 1.

The third place game on Saturday saw the Lady Mustangs soundly beat Wetumka 58-37. Calissa Childers led Allen with 20 points, Kinsey Nix 17, Emily Sells 8m Maddie Clifford 3, Kaylyn Rowsey 4, Taylor Harrison 4 and Brooklyn Sanders 2.

Both teams traveled to Latta on Tuesday night. The Number 18 Lady Mustangs were defeated by Number 3 Latta Lady Panthers 47-29. The stout Latta team held Kinsey Nix to 10 Kaylyn Rowsey 7, Calissa Childers 4, Emily Sells 3, Maddie Clifford 2 and Brooklyn Sanders 2. Rowsey led the team with 4 rebounds
