Letter from the Allen School Superintendent

Posted in:

Dear Allen Mustang Community,

I’m thankful for a community that provides continuous support of our school system. I ask that you continue to support your school and vote yes for the proposed transportation bond on February 9th. The transportation bond would provide the following new vehicles to our school: two route buses, one Allen Mustang activity bus, suburban, drivers ed car, and Ag truck.

We want to continue to provide safe transportation for our students to and from school as well as school activities. The route buses will take the place of the school leasing them and allow us to own them. The activity bus will give us a nice “Allen Mustang” painted bus to use when transporting students to away activities and games. The other vehicles will be replacing older, high mileage vehicles that we have been using to transport students to activities when the numbers don’t require a bus. We also want to continue to offer drivers education at Allen to all our students.

This bond is a conservative 5 year bond that goes strictly to the vehicles in the proposal. The tax increase will be 1.5%. You can see the attached sheet on how that will affect you. The bond rates are low right now which keeps the cost down. I ask that you continue to support your school and help us obtain nice buses and school vehicles for our students.

Sincerely,

Jeff Hiatt
