Lady Mustangs Ready for Playoffs

By the time the paper is printed the Allen Lady Mustangs softball team will know if they are headed to the next step of the playoffs. Allen will play host to Wanette Wednesday in a best 2 out of 3 series in the District tournament. A district championship sends the team to the Regional tournament next week.

The Lady Mustangs still sit at number 4 in the ratings and are hoping to host the next round of the playoffs. The girls have played some tough competition this past week, we’ve won some and we’ve lost some but we have learned something in every game. These girls are tough and play hard for each other and we play expecting to make a trip to the state tournament. We love for our crowd to come out and support us, we really appreciate it.

Four RBI Day For Sunzie Harrison Seals The Deal In Allen Victory Over Moss

Sunzie Harrison to came the ballpark and meant business on Monday, driving in four on two hits to lead the Lady Mustangs Varsity past Moss 7-1 on Monday. Harrison drove in runs on a grand slam in the sixth.

In the second inning, Moss got their offense started. Moss scored one run when Gordonsingled.

Allen pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for Allen and Maddy Clifford singled on the fi rst pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Allen Lady Mustangs Varsity notched four runs in the sixth inning. Allen Lady Mustangs Varsityscored its runs on an inside the park grand slam by Harrison.

Riley Koonce was credited with the victory for Allen. She lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five and walking one.

Clifford and Katey Read added a RBI hit in the game and seven players stole a base.

Allen Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Stuart

Allen took the lead late in the game in a 7-3 victory over Stuart on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Allen batting in the bottom of the sixth when Meegan Costner singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

The Lady Mustangs got things moving in the fi rst inning. Sunzie Harrison drove in one when she singled.

Riley Koonce earned the win. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out seven.

Brown took the loss for Stuart. She surrendered seven runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out six and walking one.

Allen Lady Mustangs Varsity tallied eight hits in the game with Costner, Harrison, and Nix each managed two hits to lead the team.

Late Score Costs Allen Lady Mustangs Varsity Against Konawa

Allen stayed in it until the end, but Konawa pulled away late in a 5-2 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at two with Konawa batting in the top of the sixth when Konawa grounded out, scoring one run.

Riley Koonce took the loss for Allen Lady Mustangs Varsity. She lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out six.

Katey Read went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Allen Lady Mustangs in hits. Allen stole fi ve bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kinsey Nix and Harrison led the way with two and Koonce had one.

Early Lead For Asher Seals Fate For Allen Lady Mustangs

Allen watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-1 loss to Asher on Tuesday. Asher took the lead on a single in the second inning.

Riley Koonce took the loss for Allen Lady Mustangs Varsity. She lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out four and walking zero.

Taylor Tollett, Meegan Costner, Sunzie Harrison, and Kinsey Nix all had one hit to lead Allen.
