The Lady Mustangs opened their season hosting Roff and Coalgate on Monday.

Allen Lady Mustangs’s effort to come back from down four runs in the third inning came up just short, as they fell 5-4 to Roff on Monday. Allen closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, a single, and a single.

Allen lost despite out-hitting Roff 12 to six. Ava Laden, Kaylee Davis, Addison Prentice, Cherish Woodward, and Kayla Nickell each collected two hits for .

Woodward stepped in the circle first for Allen. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking five.

The Lady Mustangs amassed 12 hits in the game. Nickell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Allen with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Prentice and Nickell each stole multiple bases for Allen the team stole seven bases in the game.

Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs had trouble keeping up with Coalgate Widcats Varsity in a 14-4 loss on Tuesday.

The Lady Mustangs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kayla Nickell singled, scoring one run, and Lilly Matthews grounded out, scoring two runs.

Coalgate Widcats Varsity took the lead, 4-3, in the top of the third thanks to doubles by Nevaeh Parker, and Olivia Nelson.

The sixth inning proved costly for Allen as Coalgate scored six runs on six hits in the top of the sixth inning.

Kaylee Davis stepped in the circle first for Allen. She surrendered 20 hits and 14 runs (eight earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking two.

Davis and Nickell were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Allen while hitting back-toback. Matthews provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Allen turned one double play in the game.
