District Champs Now On to Regionals
The Lady Mustangs punched their ticket to the Regional Tournament with a clean sweep over Wanette last week.
In the opener over Wanette it was all Allen running to a 12-0 run rule victory. Riley Koonce picked up the 3 inning win throwing a no-hit shut out. Three Lady Mustangs had hits in the contest with Costner going 2 for 2 and Sunzie Harrison was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Koonce helped her own cause with a double. It was 4 RBI game for Costner and Harrison, Koonce and Read each adding one.
Sunzie Harrison was brilliant on the rubber on Wednesday, September 19th , as she threw a no-hitter to lead the Lady Mustangs past Wanette 11-0 in the final round of the Fast Pitch Softball District Tournament. Allen had taken the fi rst game 12-0 over the Wanette Lady Tigers.
The local ladies secured the victory and the District Title thanks to six runs in the third inning. Big bats were led by Taylor Tollett, Kinsey Nix, Harrison, and Riley Koonce, who each had RBIs in the inning.
In the first inning, Allen got their offense started and scored one run when Harrison singled.

Harrison led her team to victory from the pitcher’s circle. She allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one.
Alkire took the loss for Wanette. She surrendered 11 runs on six hits over three innings, striking out one.
The Lady Mustangs saw the ball well today, racking up six hits in the game. Nix and Harrison all collected multiple hits. Harrison and Nix both had two hits to lead the team and the Mustangs didn’t commit a single error in the fi eld. Meegan Costner had the most chances in the fi eld with seven.
The win moved the Lady Mustangs into the Regional tournament hosting Keota, Tushka and Stuart. The tourney starts Thursday at noon with the Allen / Keota match up followed at 2 with Stuart and Tushka at 2.
The Regional Tournament Champion will make the trip to the State Tournament next week.
“We have worked very hard all season for this opportunity. We are so excited to be selected to host the tournament in, we love playing in front of our fans. We aren’t going to lie we have drawn a very tough region, however we might as well beat them now and earn our trip to the State Tournament.”
The girls would love for a large crowd to cheer them on Thursday and Friday.
