Betty Finney Retires
Betty Finney took a fall on September 20, 2020 that required hip surgery and has forced her into retirement. She underwent two surgeries, one on September 23 rd and again on November 11 th .
Born in a log house six miles south of Allen on November 16, 1934, Betty lived in the Red Oak area, within two miles of her birthplace, until she graduated from the Red Oak School in 1948, having completed the 8 th grade. On March 13, 1953 she married and moved to Allen, living here since that time. Always a worker, Betty has been employed by the Rite Spot Café, Peay’s Grocery, as a home provider, and twice as contract labor for the local post office.
Betty said, “I’ve been fortunate to live on South Portland Street most of my life. I would like to thank the friends I have made in my lifetime, 86+ years.”
Her official retirement date was October 7, 2020.
