Allen Captures Lead Early to Defeat Stonewall Lady Longhorns
Stonewall Lady Longhorns fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-1 loss to Allen on Friday. Allen scored on a triple by Koonce in the first inning, a double by Rowsey in the second inning, and a single by Koonce in the second inning.
The Stonewall Lady Longhorns struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Allen, giving up eight runs.
Allen got on the board in the first inning when Koonce tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Allen scored three runs in the second inning. Allen offense in the inning was led by Rowsey and Koonce, all driving in runs in the frame.
Allen racked up 13 hits. Sanders, Davis, Nix, and Koonce all collected multiple hits for Allen.Taylen Mason went 3-for-3 and home run at the plate to lead Allen in hits. Macy Davis led Allen with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.
Allen catcher Taylor Tollet threw out one base runner.
Vanoss Lady Wolves defeated Allen 3-1 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with Vanoss Lady Wolves batting in the bottom of the fifth when Emrie Ellis singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Vanoss Lady Wolves pitchers struck out eight, while Allen’s Riley Koonce sat down fi ve.
Vanoss Lady Wolves knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fourth inning. Vanoss Lady Wolves scored one run when Jacee Underwood doubled.
Koonce took the loss for Allen. She went six innings, allowing three runs on ten hits, striking out five and walking zero.
KinseyNix led Allen with two hits in three at bats. and Taylen Mason had Allen’s only RBI. Kaylyn Rowsey had the Lady Mustangs only other hit and we stranded 5 base runners.
Tuesday’s game against Moss was cancelled.
Thursday the Lady Mustangs return to action at the Tupelo tournament. First game for Allen is at 12:20 against Coleman. The bracket is found at the top of this page.
