Allen and Calvin Join Forces on Softball Field

Rock Creek Tournament Starts Today

Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs easily dispatched Varnum on Monday, 9-1.

Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs got on the board in the first inning after Kaylee Davis grounded out, scoring one run.

Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs captured the lead, 5-1, in the bottom of the second after Kryslyn Stephens walked, Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs scored on a passed ball, Addison Prentice grounded out, and Stephens stole home, each scoring one run.

A single by Olivia Wallace extended the Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the third inning.

Cherish Woodward led things off in the circle for Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs. The righty allowed five hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking six. Stephens tossed two innings of zero-run ball for Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs in relief. She allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking one.

Kayla Nickell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Allen with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Ava Laden and Nickell each collected two hits for Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs. Davis paced Allen Varsity Lady Mustangs with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Stephens stole two bases, Addison Prentice, Davis and Laden also each had a stolen base. Allen stole six bases in the game. The Lady Mustangs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Davis had the most chances in the field with 12.

A new era in Allen/ Calvin Softball began Tuesday. The two school have merged their softball teams into one and started the joint effort in Stuart.

The team had trouble keeping up with Stuart in an 8-0 loss on Tuesday.

Kaylee Davis led things off in the circle for Allen. The righty gave up eight hits and eight runs (seven earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking four.

The Lady Mustangs easily dispatched Graham Dustin on Wednesday, 10-4.

Graham Dustin got on the board in the top of the first inning after a single, and was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

The team jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Cherish Woodward walked, Kaylee Davis tripled, Kayla Nickell singled, Graham Dustin committed an error, and Kryslyn Stephens singled, each scoring one run.

Allen extended their early lead with five runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI doubles by Davis and Andi Winningham.

Stephens led things off in the circle for the team. The righty gave up one hit and four runs over one and onethird innings, striking out three and walking four. #4 pitched one inning of zerorun ball in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

Davis went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Allen in hits. The Lady Mustangs had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Addison Prentice and Woodward led the team with two free passes each. Ava Laden stole three bases, Matthews and Prentice each had 1. The Lady Mustangs were surehanded in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Nickell had the most chances in the field with six.

The team travels to Rock Creek for a 10:30 game on Thursday in the opening round of the Rock Creek 13 team tournament. They will face Colbert. A win will move them to a 1:30 game against Tushka. On Monday the team will travel to Holdenville and Wetumka on Tuesday.
