Threads of Life
Dreams, Talent & Creativity
Who has not thought at times about why they are on this earth and their reason for being? Who has not longed to know what our purpose is? We all dream dreams. Have we been able to pursue our dreams?
When we allow our minds to soar, to sort out what is inside ourselves and the creativity of our being, then we begin to believe that we have a purpose in life.
Our talents, our artistic abilities and creativity are gifts from God. What we do with them is a gift to ourselves and to the world.
I found this poem at one of the artists’ booths at Red Earth. The author is not listed. I like it very much and think of it often. “Do not speak to me of talent, for talent is not a commodity that can be measured or lent or borrowed against. It is not yours to do with as you will; it is a gift from God, not bestowed because you merit it, but rather a glimmer of a thought in the mind of God, alighting on you . . . for a reason.” I think of this often. I think it is so true.
Think of all the things in the world that would not be, that would have been lost to the world if they had not been acted upon and brought to fruition. If those who were inspired and had the drive to go ahead and do it, but did not, think what would have been lost.
Think of the Bible and what it had to go through to get the printed versions we have today. First it was scrolls; they were hidden and then discovered. Finally they got to a printing press, went through many evolutions and many studies and translations, and someone had the foresight and drive to get them published. Now we have the Bible. In Germany and England, at one time, people were put to death for owning a Bible. There was a great struggle for the English people before they were able to read the Scriptures.
Someone had an idea and used the talent they had to go ahead with it and the results are left for us. For mankind. For the world.
So dream your dreams, then use your talent and creativity to bring them to fruition.
