Area Playoffs Underway
Regional Playoffs began in Allen this past Thursday with dual wins over the Stonewall Longhorns.
The Ladies started the evening with a 33-27 win and the boys added their 50-42 score to make it a perfect evening. This was the third time the locals faced the Stonewall teams this season.

Lady Mustangs vs Lady Longhorns
33-27
The No. 18 Lady Mustangs improved their record to 16-6 with the defeat of the Lady Longhorns, ending their season with a 12-11 record.
After see-sawing through the first quarter, the Lady Mustangs settled down and kept their lead. The half-time trip to the locker rooms had the locals with a 21- 14 lead.
The Lady Longhorns made a good attempt in the third quarter but never got closer than four.
Kaylee Davis led Allen offense with 11 points, including three 3-point baskets. She also had four rebounds and three steals. Ava Laden just missed double figures with nine.
Adding to the final score were Maggie Yarbrough, 4; Stoney Cully, 4; Brooklyn Sanders, 3; and Alexis Slabaugh, 2.
The Friday night win gave the Mustangs a 16-7 win-loss season while the Longhorns ended their year 8-16.
The Mustangs entered the locker room at half time with a 26-22 lead but it was the fourth quarter that gave the most breathing room to the locals and an 8-point win.
Garrett Nix started the game with the first six points for the Mustangs and ended the evening with a game high 25; Brayden Tatum followed with 17. Beckett Wells added 2 as did Tagus Howard, Easton Ledo and Jake Beavert.
The two team then moved on to play at the Byng gymnasium on Friday afternoon where the girls were challenged by Rock Creek and the boys took on Crowder.

Lady Mustangs vs Lady Mustangs
36-34
When Lady Mustangs take on Lady Mustangs you can expect a challenge and that exactly what came down on Friday when the Allen ladies faced the Rock Creek ladies, both teams called the Mustangs.
There was only a one point lead, 18-17, when the Allen girls headed to the half time break. Rock Creek outscored the locals in the third but Allen Lady Mustangs recovered in the fourth quarter for the win.
Leading the charge was Kaylee Davis with 11, followed by Brooklyn Sanders with 10. These two were followed by Ava Laden with 6; Maggie Yarbrough, 4; Stoney Cully, 3; and Alexis Slabaugh, 2.
Allen Mustangs vs. Caddo Bruins
60-66
The season ended Friday after a hard fought game with the Caddo Bruins. The Mustangs fell 60 to 66 but the 2021- 22 year was a good year to watch the young men grow in their talent and confidence.

Lady Mustangs vs Lady Comets
36-26
The team that sent the Allen ladies into the consolation bracket couldn’t do it twice as the Velma-Alma team fell 36-26 on Saturday afternoon.
Behind after the first quarter, the Lady Mustangs went to the locker room at half time up by 2. That lead increased in the third and finished strong in the fourth quarter.
None of the local ladies made double digits but Stoney Cully came close with 9. She was followed by Brooklyn Sanders with 8; Maggie Yarbrough, 7; Maycee Davis, 4; Cheyene McCarn, 3; Taylor Harrison and Ava Laden with 2 each; and Kaylee Davis, 1.
With the change in scheduling made Tuesday by the OSSAA, the Lady Mustangs will travel to Shawnee Friday evening to take on the Webber Falls Lady Warriors at 7:00 pm.
