The Allen Mustangs lost to the Savanna Bulldogs Friday night by a score of 28-20.

The game was competitive throughout and the Mustangs were first to put points on the board.

After stopping the Bulldogs on Savanna’s first drive, the Mustangs began a drive at their own 16 yard line.

The drive started poorly, and the Mustangs actually went backwards due to penalties.

On first and 10, Shawn Husband took a handoff, but was stopped at the line of scrimmage. That play was followed by three second downs.

Allen was called for false starts on the first two, which led to two five-yard penalties.

On second and 20 at the Allen six yard line, the Mustangs got a little breathing room after quarterback Davyn Wilson completed a pass to Will Kaminski for an eight-yard gain.

It was looking bleak for the Mustangs with a third down and 12 play deep in their own territory, but Davyn Wilson passed the ball to Quinton Walker who ran it all the way to the house for an 86 yard touchdown.

The two-point conversion was no good, however, making it 6-0, Allen.

After each team punted on their ensuing possessions, Savanna knotted the score at six after a 66-yard rushing touchdown.

But Allen scored again on its ensuing drive, which began at the Mustangs’ 35 yard line.

On first and 10, Quinton Walker rushed the ball for a 20-yard gain to the Bulldogs’ 45 yard line.

Shawn Husband was stopped for no gain on first and 10, then Emmett Koonce was tackled for a one-yard loss on the following play.

But on Third and 11, Wilson went to the air again and connected with Quinn Corumm for a 34-yard gain to the Savanna 12 yard line.

Shawn Husband took a handoff and gained 11 yards to the Bulldogs’ one yard line, then Wilson kept the ball and punched it in for the touchdown on the following play.

Allen added two points on a pass from Wilson to Quinton Walker, 14-6.

Savanna put eight points on the board in the second quarter to tie the game at 14. The score remained tied going into halftime.

Second Half

Allen’s first two possessions in the third quarter ended in a fumble, and then a turnover on downs.

Savanna then scored a touchdown, and, with a successful PAT kick, put the score at 21-14, Savanna.

On their ensuing possession, the Mustangs drove to the Bulldogs’ 25 yard line before turning the ball over on downs.

However, the Bulldogs fumbled the ball on their first play on a tackle behind the line of scrimmage by Tagus Howard, which was recovered by Allen’s Cayser Nickell.

The Mustangs then used a series of rushes and one pass play to score a touchdown.

However, the two-point conversion attempt was no good, which left the score at 21-20, Savanna.

The Mustangs were unable to score again, and the Bulldogs tacked on seven more points in the fourth quarter to make the final score 28- 20.

The Mustangs (2-7/06) will next host Konawa (1-8/1-5) Friday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by Senior Night, honoring the graduating players, band members and cheerleaders. That ceremony will begin at 6:15.
