Allen and State Votes Republican
While Oklahoma election results are considered unofficial until they are verified on Friday, November 8th, voters can be fairly confident of the outcome of Tuesday’s election.
The state joined the nation in electing Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States, giving Trump 66.17% of the 1,574,573 statewide votes. He and his Vice President, JD Vance, will be sworn in and take office on inauguration day, January 20, 2025.
Trump/Vance defeated the democrat candidates, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, with a projected electoral vote count of 277 to 224.
In other statewide contests, Republican J. Brian Bingman won the Corporation Commissioner seat; Josh Brecheen and Tom Cole retained their seats in the US House; and Arnold Scott was elected as Pontotoc County Sheriff.
State Question 833, which would have allowed for the formation of public infrastructure districts, was defeated while Question 834 on restricting voting rights to only U.S. citizens passed by a wide margin.
In Pontotoc County over 15,000 voters turned out for Tuesday’s election with 450 of that number voting at the Allen First Baptist Church. Trump took 391 of those votes with 52 going to Harris; the remaining 6 votes were divided between Oliver 3, Kennedy 1 and Garrity 2.
Tom Cole (R) also carried the local precinct with 370 of the 448 votes case in that contest; Mary Brannon (D) took 45 and James Stacy (I) received 33 votes.
In the race for County Sheriff, Arnold Scott won with 298 votes over Jason Potter’s 147.
In Hughes County, Trump also prevailed taking 80.36% of the 4,659 votes cast.
Allen voters in Hughes County chose Trump with 172 votes compared to Harris’ 14, Kennedy’s 4 and Garrity’s 3. Atwood gave Trump 157 votes with 29 for Harris and 1 for Kennedy; 224 in Calvin voted for Trump with 30 for Harris, 3 for Kennedy and 1 for Oliver; Gerty went 257 Trump, 24 Harris and 1 for Oliver.
Josh Brecheen (R) kept his seat with 76.65% of the countywide 4,561 votes cast. In Allen he received 165 votes compared to 18 for Brandon Wade (D) and 6 for Ronnie Hopkins (I). Atwood split their votes with 147 for Brecheen, 31 Wade, and 6 Hopkins; Calvin went 208 for Brecheen, 33 for Wade and 7 Hopkins; Gerty gave 248 votes to Brecheen, 26 for Wade and 4 Hopkins.
